Paper and BoardAll our stock papers are Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) approved. All the paper we purchase is from managed forests. We will continue to monitor our suppliers to ensure that supply is from sustainable forests. European mills will take preference over Asian mills to reduce the environmental impact of transport. European mills also have stricter government regulations and controls regarding the environment. AlcoholWe are continuously monitoring developments in alcohol free printing. Our current level of alcohol use to water is 5%. We will reduce this when the technology is available to do so and maintain our high print quality. TransportWe will endeavour to use the most fuel efficient practical method of transport available to us. We combine loads where possible and organise routes. We will continue to try to improve this area not only to keep costs to a minimum but also to help reduce environmental impact. Sales staff will be encouraged to avoid unnecessary trips. PowerWe will continue to monitor our usage of power and strive to reduce it. We will monitor our suppliers and source from green suppliers where possible. |
PlatemakingWe have moved to chemistry free plates and the plates are re-cycled after use. We use metal based plates to achieve the required quality. We will continue to monitor advances in technology in this area to improve our environmental position. CoatingsWe use aqueous polymer coatings that allow the paper to be re-cycled. We will encourage our customers to use this as opposed to UV Coatings and laminates. Re-CyclingAll paper, cardboard, plastic and metal is segregated in the office and factory and sent for re-cycling. We will monitor our use of packaging and reduce where possible. Suppliers will be encouraged to take back and re-use where feasible. Impress takes its responsibility towards the environment seriously and will continuously work towards reducing our environmental impact. |
